Yes - Valerie is older than you think.
So...Aunt Arden's house....Yes, I remember the deck and the picnic table and the fence and the dogs (don't know if they were Aunt Arden's or if someone brought them) and mean Angela. I remember being sent in the house to play with her, which was hard because she would not let me play with her toys. She especially did not let me play with her Lite Brite. I also remember trying to differentiate all the second cousins, like "Ronnie" and "Dustin". I thought "Dustin" was a very exotic name - at first I didn't understand that it was a name, I thought it meant dusty.
If I had paper I could probably draw you Aunt Arden's back yard.
AND ---- I remember when I didn't get to ride in the van with cool Aunt Donna, cool UQ, cool Aunt Maureen and waaaay cool Uncle Dave on the way there because they were listening to Eddie Murphy "Raw" on tape and I didn't understand what could possibly be so bad that I couldn't hear? I think I cried over it.
So yes, AD ---- I remember.

Hello everyone. Reen is right, we need to post more often. Well I am off for a nice long weekend and I sure can use it. I have been spending way too much time at work. The slime ball accountant is still free but not for long.
Well school is starting and Brianna is in denial. I have been trying to get her to go "school shopping" for a couple of weeks now and all she does is moan. I believe we will be going tomorrow but we shall see. Q started back today and said it went well. He went through a frenzy of Xbox for the week prior as he will now have no time to play. At least I get my TV back - well sort of - Big Q has been going through channel flicking withdrawl so therefore I will have no chance of getting the remote.
I have been thinking of the Christmas party and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the main course. Throw your ideas at me but don't make it too difficult - Me and Reen in the morning are not the best when it comes to timing - I think we needed Q to save a roast one year.
Take care and everyone start posting.

Addison Update
I am happy to say that I got to spend most of my weekend with Addison. I had her all day on Sunday. We went to Olive Garden for lunch with Jenn and Cheyenne and had a great time. Jennifer was proud to be the first to introduce her to Olive Garden. I have a feeling she'll be spending lots of time there over the years.
Then we took a trip to Target to pick up a "few things"! Well, I got none of the things on my list but Addison picked out two new outfits, a new floor activity gym and a comb and hairbrush set. We quickly put her hairbrush to use that evening after her bath.
A Bit of Nostalgia
So for those of you that remember growing up in the 70's you'll enjoy this one. It's a nice sunny summer day in New Jersey (that's where we always were in the summer!) and we're at Uncle Sonny's and Aunt Arden's house.
We were having some type of cookout on this day so I'm not sure if it was a holiday or not, but we thought we'd enjoy a game of Lawn Jarts. Do you remember them? They we actually banned/recalled/whatever, because of the damage they caused, which we got a little taste of on that sunny summer day. I don't remember who actually threw the jart, it could have been me, but we missed the target by a long shot and hit the back of Uncle Sonny's Station Wagon. The jart went right through the metal!
Well low and behold, Dave and I were out on our Saturday morning garage sale route and there they were, all packaged up in a box......JARTS! Of course we had to buy them. If we decide to play I'll make sure that we are way out of range for cars, houses, people, animals, etc., etc., etc.

Where is Everybody???
Wow, it's been 1 week and a day and no new posts! Not a hello, a picture, an update on what's happening.....nothing! Okay, well I have a few for you this evening so I hope you enjoy.

Don't worry Eagle Fans
Ok so if you saw last nights game, you may be just a little leary about what the season will bring. Don't worry - they always look bad for the preseason games. Yes, it drives me crazy that they look like a bunch of defusses and yes, I had a few choice words while I watched the ravens blow through our front line defense like it wasn't there. But please everyone stay calm. It will be ok.

Ireland Retreat and visit
Hi Everybody,
I'm back from my retreat and visit to the Sisters in Ireland (my province). The retreat was great and the retreat center was beautifully situated across from Dublin Bay and right next to the famous Saint Anne's Rose Gardens. I downloaded a few photos of Saint Anne's Rose Garden from the web but unfortynately they wouldn't stick on to this Blog so you'll just have to imagine acres of roses all arranged beautifully.
My visit to our old Sisters was emotional as I had worked with many of them in South Africa and now they are old and really feeble. Some are in the Nursing Home and totaly incapacitated.
They get excellent care however and I was glad to see them so well cared for.
There is good news and bad news regarding my thumb. The fracture is totally healed and the cast is off (the good news) however due to arthritis, immobility and the way the cast was put on, I now have a swollen and really crooked thumb. I'll need physioterapy and possibly some surgery into the future. I have another appointment with the specialist on August 30th. So what else is new.
Other than my crooked thumb, I'm doing fine and waiting for our visas from Congo to come through.
Much love to everyone.
Linda
